Baseball Recap: New Trier Takes a Loss

New Trier has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.66 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They came up short against the Libertyville Wildcats, falling 10-3. The Trevians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Jake Bentivenga was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. Trey Meyers was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

New Trier dropped their record down to 23-8-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Libertyville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-3 record this season.

New Trier is taking a road trip to challenge Highland Park at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Libertyville, they will be playing at home against Hersey at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
