Baseball Recap: Angola Extends Winning Streak to Five

Angola had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Prairie Heights Panthers as they made off with a 10-0 win. The Hornets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Landen Bussard was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Angola is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-12 otherwise. Bussard was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Landon Leach was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Myles Steury, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Angola was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Angola pushed their record up to 9-13 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Prairie Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.

Coming up, Angola will be taking part in a tournament against Columbia City at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Prairie Heights, they will welcome Whitko at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
