Basketball Recap: Hopewell Falls Despite Big Games from MOLLY HOWE and JUNE WALLACE

Hopewell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Harding University Rams. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Titans of the 47-30 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

JUNE WALLACE and MOLLY HOWE certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. WALLACE dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds, while HOWE posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was JEWEL OSBORNE, who earned five points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hopewell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Hopewell's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Harding University, they moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Hopewell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 76-21 defeat against Mallard Creek on the 20th. As for Harding University, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Chambers at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
