Softball Recap: Silverton Finds Home Field Redemption Against Lebanon

There's no place like home for Silverton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 12-7 win over the Lebanon Warriors on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-8 back in April.

Mckenzee Petersen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madalynn Ehrens was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Zellee Herman also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Silverton lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lebanon didn't launched any home runs.

Silverton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lebanon, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-15.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Silverton is set to square off against their familiar foe Woodburn at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Lebanon will take on rival Dallas at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
