Basketball Recap: Mishawaka Takes a Loss

Mishawaka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Glenn Falcons and fell 71-20. While losing is never fun, the Cavemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Falcons are ranked 124th).

Mishawaka's loss came despite strong showings from Tinayja Summers and Grace Matherly. Summers posted six points, while Matherly put up two points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Summers a new career-high in points.

Leading Glenn to victory were Dre Weddington and Mia Hurford. Weddington went 8 of 11 on her way to 20 points and five rebounds, while Hurford went 5 of 6 on her way to 11 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. Hurford has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Calleigh Reese was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Mishawaka's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Glenn, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2.

Mishawaka wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 57-21 defeat against NorthWood on the 13th. As for Glenn, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 40-36 loss against LaVille on the 13th.
