West Johnston came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Union Pines Vikings, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since October 22, 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-16, 25-15.

Berkley Carroll paced West Johnston's offense, picking up five kills. Carroll got some help from Carly Eagles and her eight assists. Eagles also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Landis Williams, racking up two apiece.

Union Pines' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Katie Burley led the charge by getting 14 digs, five aces, and two blocks. That's the most aces Burley has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Allie Bauer, who had 23 assists and three digs.
