Softball Game Preview: Newman Smith Trojans vs. The Colony Cougars

Newman Smith hasn't had much luck against The Colony recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Newman Smith Trojans will take on The Colony Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Newman Smith has given up an average of 14.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Newman Smith is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 26th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Wakeland, falling 16-0.

Meanwhile, The Colony scored first but ultimately less than Reedy in their contest on Tuesday. They lost 16-8 to the Lions. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The Colony's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Newman Smith, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Newman Smith might still be hurting after the 22-0 loss they got from The Colony when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Newman Smith avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
