Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Weldon Valley's Fifth in Last Six Outings

If Peetz wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Weldon Valley, they should've done a better job of containing Haylee Nelson. The Weldon Valley Warriors came out on top against the Peetz Bulldogs by a score of 40-33 on Friday for which the team can thank Nelson, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in blocks (three).

Another player making a difference was Ellie Koch, who posted three points in addition to ten rebounds and four steals. She has become a key player for Weldon Valley: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least ten boards, but 7-11 otherwise.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Milla Panduro, who put up eight points and five steals. Panduro has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Weldon Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season. Peetz is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-18.

Weldon Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-34 defeat against Lone Star on the 1st. As for Peetz, they have also already played their next game, a 49-47 victory against Bethune on the 1st.
