Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Austin Buckley and Tanner Jones Lead Herscher to Victory

On Saturday, the Herscher Tigers strolled past the Grace Christian Academy Crusaders with points to spare, taking the game 67-50. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Leading Herscher to victory were Tanner Jones and Austin Buckley. Jones went 8 of 12 on his way to 20 points along with seven steals and six rebounds, while Buckley went 8 for 16 en route to 22 points. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Payten Young, who posted 11 points.

Herscher's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-15. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Grace Christian Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-10 record.

Herscher will square off against Reed-Custer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grace Christian Academy has already played their next match (against Grant Park), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
