Softball Game Preview: Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots vs. Mooresville Pioneers

The Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Mooresville Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Terre Haute North Vigo has eight straight victories, Mooresville has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Terre Haute North Vigo's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Thursday, when they got past Riverton Parke's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Patriots blew past the Panthers 12-1. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Mooresville fell victim to Whiteland and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 14-0 to the Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pioneers have suffered against the Warriors since May 25, 2022.

Terre Haute North Vigo's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mooresville, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11.

Terre Haute North Vigo skirted past Mooresville 6-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
