Recap: Wiregrass Ranch Bulls vs. Zephyrhills Bulldogs
Even though the Zephyrhills Bulldogs scored an imposing 63 points on Wednesday, the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls still came out on top. Wiregrass Ranch snuck past Zephyrhills with a 69-63 victory. Given Wiregrass Ranch's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Zephyrhills is ranked 282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wiregrass Ranch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from KJ Smith, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. The match was Smith's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Preston Linville was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Wiregrass Ranch has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. As for Zephyrhills, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wiregrass Ranch will play host again and welcome Cypress Creek, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cypress Creek is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Zephyrhills won't have much time to rest: their next match is against South Sumter at 7:30 p.m. on January 11th. South Sumter has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests.
