Recap: Carlisle County Comets vs. Mayfield Cardinals
Even though the Carlisle County Comets have not done well against the Mayfield Cardinals recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Carlisle County enjoyed a cozy 69-51 victory over Mayfield. Winning may never get old, but Carlisle County sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Carlisle County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Burnett, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Grogan, who scored 13 points.
Carlisle County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Mayfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.
Carlisle County will head out on the road to face off against Murray at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Murray will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Mayfield, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Marshall County at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th.
