Softball Recap: New Castle Has No Trouble Against Penn Hills

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Neshannock, New Castle was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They never let the Penn Hills Indians get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The matchup marked the Hurricanes' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Olivia Hood and Aliyah Stalczynski did most of the damage at the plate: Hood fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one double while going 3-for-3, while Stalczynski scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave Hood a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla DiGennaro, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: New Castle lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 2-1 when they post two or more home runs.

New Castle moved to 3-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Penn Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

New Castle will be playing at home against North Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Penn Hills, they are taking a road trip to challenge Mars at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Penn Hills is facing Mars at the right time seeing as Mars is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
