Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for California

California hadn't done well against Monessen recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Trojans blew past the Greyhounds 12-0. Considering the Trojans have won three matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

California let Maddy Morton and Avery Filby run wild. Morton scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Filby scored two runs and stole a base. Morton also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Gabbi Luncinski was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

California always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .824. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was California's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. California has already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Jefferson-Morgan on the 1st. As for Monessen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-3 loss against Jeannette on the 1st.
