Baseball Recap: Mountain Crest Comes Up Short

Mountain Crest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Field Longhorns.

Rylin Needham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Zyan Foulger was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Mountain Crest's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for West Field, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-8.

While Mountain Crest had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
