Baseball Recap: Pembroke Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Pembroke strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Barker Bulldogs. For the Dragons, this counts as revenge for the 11-8 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Anthony Abbatiello and Jayden Bridge made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Abbatiello pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Bridge struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. At bat, Abbatiello scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Bridge scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Hayden Williams was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Humphrey, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Pembroke kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Barker only managed two hits.

Pembroke's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Barker, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Pembroke will head out to square off against Perry at 4:30 p.m. on the 21st. As for Barker, they will host Webber at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
