Softball Recap: Torrington Raiders vs. Wolcott Eagles
Torrington had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 6-10 to make it four. They fell just short of the Wolcott Eagles by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 two weeks ago.

Sophia Pergola spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
As for Wolcott, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.
On Wolcott's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Avery Malenfant gave up two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Jaelyn Belval and Lilly Spina did most of the damage at the plate: Belval went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Spina went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
