Softball Game Preview: Amelia County Raiders vs. Goochland Bulldogs

The Amelia County Raiders will square off against the Goochland Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Goochland took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Amelia County, who comes in off a win.

Amelia County took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Nottoway, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Raiders won by a run and slipped past the Cougars 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Goochland fell victim to Monticello and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Mustangs, falling 11-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered against the Mustangs since May 10, 2022.

The win got Amelia County back to even at 4-4. As for Goochland, they dropped their record down to 7-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Amelia County skirted past Goochland 11-10 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
