Volleyball Recap: Winslow Takes a Loss

Winslow lost against Show Low back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bulldogs took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Winslow started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-11, 25-14, 25-15.

Their offense was headlined by Kassidy Belone and Kaitlyn Belone, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Keira Barton and her 17 assists. Kassidy also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Natilyn Nez, each putting up two.

Leading Show Low to victory were Avery Ervien and Lyndie Wallentine. Ervien had 52 digs and four assists, while Wallentine had 22 digs and three blocks. Those 22 digs gave Wallentine a new career-high.

Winslow's defeat dropped their record down to 19-17-1. As for Show Low, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 32-10 record this season.

Winslow has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Blue Ridge on the 23rd. As for Show Low, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Alchesay on the 23rd.
