Baseball Recap: York Prep Triumphs

York Prep took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Buford, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Patriots came out on top in a nail-biter against the Yellow Jackets on Monday, sneaking past 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

Avery Williams made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. York Prep is 3-1 when Williams allows two or fewer earned runs, but 9-10-1 otherwise. Williams was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tristan Stroud, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lucas Hope, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

York Prep now has a winning record of 12-11-1. As for Buford, they dropped their record down to 7-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

York Prep will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Yellow Jackets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
