Softball Recap: Orosi Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Orosi duked it out with Delano on Friday. The Cardinals took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.

Miah Lopez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Lopez wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Krystyn Zamora, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Orosi has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16-1 record this season. As for Delano, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-15-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orosi will welcome Orange Cove at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Delano, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shafter at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Generals have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
