Basketball Recap: Mattamuskeet Comes Up Short

Mattamuskeet was the 53-37 winner over Cape Hatteras when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Mattamuskeet Lakers took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cape Hatteras Hurricanes on Tuesday. The Lakers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cape Hatteras' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ty Stephens, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. The match was Stephens' third in a row with at least ten points. Trae Wyatt was another key player, putting up 15 points and six rebounds.

Mattamuskeet's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Cape Hatteras, their record now sits at 4-8.

Mattamuskeet has already played their next game (against Columbia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cape Hatteras is taking a road trip to challenge Ocracoke at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Ocracoke will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Cape Hatteras surely won't give up without a fight.
