Baseball Game Preview: Sullivan County Griffins vs. Cowanesque Valley Indians

The Sullivan County Griffins will take on the Cowanesque Valley Indians at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Sullivan County is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Sullivan County came up short against Canton on Thursday, falling 12-2.

Sullivan County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Blasi, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cowanesque Valley). Everything went their way against Oswayo Valley on Thursday as they made off with an 18-7 victory. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Green Wave: they've now won eight in a row.

Lucas Hamilton was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Stahli, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Cowanesque Valley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sullivan County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
