Basketball Game Preview: Pisgah Eagles vs. Oakwood Academy Mustangs

The Pisgah Eagles will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Oakwood Academy Mustangs at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.

Last Thursday, Pisgah might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Section an easy 74-54 victory. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Lions are ranked 79th).

Meanwhile, Oakwood Academy beat Skyline 63-55 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Oakwood Academy's win came from a few key players Pisgah will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Austin Germono, who went 10 of 19 on his way to 24 points and three steals. The game was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadon Williams, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 11 points and seven rebounds.

Oakwood Academy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.5 points per game. As for Pisgah, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Pisgah might still be hurting after the 85-65 loss they got from Oakwood Academy in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Pisgah avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
