Basketball Recap: Stoughton Picks Up 13th Straight Win at Home

Stoughton entered their tilt with Lake Country Lutheran on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-61 win over the Lake Country Lutheran Lightning.

Lake Country Lutheran's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Sivak, who went 8 for 16 on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds. That's the most boards Sivak has posted since back in December of 2023. Jacob Burow was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Stoughton pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for Lake Country Lutheran, they moved to 7-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stoughton will welcome McFarland at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Stoughton knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully McFarland likes a good challenge. As for Lake Country Lutheran, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Milwaukee Lutheran at 7:15 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
