Softball Recap: Canyon Lake Comes Up Short

After flying high against Llano last Tuesday, Canyon Lake came back down to earth. Canyon Lake came up short against the Wimberley Texans on Friday, falling 9-3. The loss continues a trend for Canyon Lake in their meetings with Wimberley: they've now lost five in a row.

Cheyenne Fields was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.

Canyon Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Wimberley, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-13.

Looking ahead, Canyon Lake will face off against Navarro at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Navarro has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.82 runs per game on average), something Canyon Lake will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wimberley, they will head out to square off against Bandera at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Wimberley is facing Bandera at the right time seeing as Bandera is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
