Baseball Recap: Aliso Niguel Extends Winning Streak to Six

Aliso Niguel waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the El Toro Chargers a 3-0 shutout. Three seems to be a good number for the Wolverines as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Brandon Schaff tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cooper Flemming was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. Carson Etnire was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Aliso Niguel's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for El Toro, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aliso Niguel will square off against Newport Harbor at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Aliso Niguel 2.6, Newport Harbor 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for El Toro, they will be taking part in a tournament against Citrus Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
