Baseball Recap: Maranatha Christian Comes Up Short

Maranatha Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Classical Academy Caimans. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Caimans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Shane Piester spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maranatha Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Holton Heinrichs, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Maranatha Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Classical Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Caimans beat Maranatha Christian by a score of 5-1 on Wednesday.
