Martin County got a massive performance out of Izzy Williams, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs Williams has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Bennett, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Martin County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as John Paul II Catholic only posted an OBP of .290.
Meanwhile, Hobgood Charter never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Mattamuskeet as they made off with a 13-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Lakers: they've now won three in a row.
Haleigh Eason made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cristina Martinez, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lilli Braddy, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Hobgood Charter pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Martin County, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Martin County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .422. However, it's not like Hobgood Charter struggles in that department as they've averaged .356. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
