Baseball Game Preview: Aledo Bearcats vs. Arlington Heights Yellowjackets

For the second straight game, Aledo will face off against Arlington Heights. The Bearcats will venture away from home to take on the Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Aledo's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Arlington Heights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Aledo is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Arlington Heights with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Aledo got a great performance from Grayson McKelvey as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. McKelvey has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aledo let Landon Barnes and Luke Gladchuk run wild. Barnes went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI, while Gladchuk went 3-for-4 with three runs and one triple. Those three runs gave Gladchuk a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Nawrocki, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Aledo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arlington Heights only posted an OBP of .211.

Aledo's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Arlington Heights, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 24-10-1 record.
