Softball Recap: Heritage Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Heritage barely beat Wayne Trace the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Raiders on Monday. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Danica Fuller, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Wayne Trace off the board. With that strong performance, Fuller is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Abriyah James, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Calleigh Hirschy also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Heritage pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 11.4 runs thus far. As for Wayne Trace, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage will head out to square off against Fort Wayne Snider at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wayne Trace, they will venture away from home to challenge Antwerp at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Archers have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
