Baseball Recap: Bucklin Comes Up Short

Bucklin had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 10-3 to make it four. They came up short against the Medicine Lodge Indians, falling 15-0. If the Red Aces were looking for revenge after losing 7-1 to the Indians when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Medicine Lodge, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games.

For Medicine Lodge's part, Jaxon Baird made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Baird is becoming a predictor of Medicine Lodge's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Baird was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Medicine Lodge let Jack Schreiner and Braxx Farr run wild. Schreiner got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Farr went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Schreiner has become a key player for Medicine Lodge: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Mavrik Inslee was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Medicine Lodge beat Bucklin by a score of 15-3 later that day.
