Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Biggs' 13th in Last 14 Outings

Biggs won the last time they faced Portola and things went their way on Friday too. The Wolverines blew past the Tigers 13-7. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Gracie Sheppard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Arden Vines and Mailey Seipert did most of the damage at the plate: Vines fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-5, while Seipert went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and one RBI. Those five hits gave Seipert a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Natalie Harris-Villalobos, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Biggs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

Biggs has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Portola, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 15-9-1 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Biggs beat the Tigers by a score of 15-5 later that day.
