Basketball Game Preview: Cayuga Wildcats vs. Martins Mill Mustangs

Cayuga is 0-8 against Martins Mill since January of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Cayuga Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Martins Mill Mustangs at 7:45 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Cayuga challenged Alba-Golden on Tuesday. Cayuga fell 54-42 to Alba-Golden.

Meanwhile, Martins Mill came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Indians 84-48. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Indians are ranked 504th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Martins Mill's win came from a few key players Cayuga will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jak Kinder, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Archer Schneider, who went 8 for 14 en route to 24 points.

Martins Mill's victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.4 points per game. As for Cayuga, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.

Cayuga took a serious blow against Martins Mill in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 66-27. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cayuga was down 33-6.
