Softball Recap: Michigan City Takes a Loss

Michigan City extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-13 in the process. They came up short against the Mishawaka Marian Knights, falling 13-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolves of the 26-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Mishawaka Marian, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-10. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 4th (when they won 32-18).

For Mishawaka Marian's part, the result came thanks to Chloe Weber's shutout, as she gave up just a hit. Weber has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Halle Pedraza was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Katie Milligan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Michigan City will take on La Porte at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mishawaka Marian, they will face off against Triton at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.47 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
