Recap: Socastee Braves vs. Sumter Gamecocks
The Socastee Braves lost against the Sumter Gamecocks back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Socastee took a serious blow against Sumter, falling 86-32. While losing is never fun, Socastee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Sumter is ranked fourth).
Bri Smith and Anna Reese Pratt certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Smith scored 15 points, while Pratt scored four points along with eight rebounds. Smith scored a full 46.9% of Socastee's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
This is the second loss in a row for Socastee and nudges their season record down to 5-10. As for Sumter, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.
Socastee will head out on the road to face off against St. James at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. James will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Sumter will take on Carolina Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
