Baseball Recap: Troy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After low-scoring totals in their previous four game, Troy brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Cohoes Tigers on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Flying Horses as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Finn Harkin made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Harkin was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Fraser, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Troy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise.

Troy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Troy's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Cohoes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Troy will face off against Ballston Spa at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Cohoes, they will challenge Mohonasen at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
