The Rockport-Fulton Pirates will venture away from home to challenge the Calallen Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rockport-Fulton has given up an average of 26.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Last Friday, Rockport-Fulton lost to Kinkaid at home by a 42-24 margin. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Rockport-Fulton had strong showings from Jaxon Keown, who gained 166 total yards and a touchdown, and Traey Alvarado, who rushed for 107 yards and a pair of TDs. Keown really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Calallen faced off against Carroll last Thursday. The Wildcats managed a 26-21 victory over the Tigers. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Rockport-Fulton better keep an eye on Ricardo Rodrguez. He was instrumental in Calallen's win, rushing for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Reese Rusher, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Calallen was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 211 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 191 rushing yards in 11 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Calallen's record now sits at 3-1. As for Rockport-Fulton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Rockport-Fulton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 312.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Calallen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 248.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Rockport-Fulton suffered a grim 29-7 defeat to Calallen in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
