Softball Recap: Egyptian Pharaohs vs. Century Centurions
Egyptian had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-10 to make it four. They came up short against the Century Centurions, falling 16-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Centurions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 last Tuesday.
Abrianna Woodson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one triple.
As for Century, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games.
On Century's side, Allie Sauerbrunn was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with seven RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those seven RBI gave Sauerbrunn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylee Vanmeter, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases and four runs.
Coming up, Egyptian will square off against Pope County at 4:30 p.m. on the 2nd. As for Century, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Agape Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Centurions are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
