Basketball Game Preview: Sedro-Woolley Cubs vs. Mariner Marauders

The Sedro-Woolley Cubs will venture away from home to take on the Mariner Marauders at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Neither Sedro-Woolley nor Mariner posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 78-22, which was the final score in Sedro-Woolley's tilt against Stanwood on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Spartans are ranked 42nd).

Meanwhile, Mariner took a blow against Kamiak on Friday, falling 74-24. The Marauders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sedro-Woolley's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Mariner, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Sedro-Woolley strolled past Mariner in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 65-47. Will Sedro-Woolley repeat their success, or does Mariner have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
