Basketball Game Preview: Pawnee Black Bears vs. Pawhuska Huskies

The Pawnee Black Bears will take on the Pawhuska Huskies in a tournament on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Pawnee came up short against Wesleyan Christian on Saturday, falling 59-34. The match marked the Black Bears' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Pawhuska ended up a good deal behind Morrison on Saturday and lost 61-44. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pawnee will have to keep a close watch on Darien West and Dax Godsey, a pair of players who had a big impact on Pawhuska's prior game. West went 5 for 8 on his way to 11 points, while Godsey posted seven points and five assists. That's the most assists Godsey has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Sweeden, who put up six points.

Pawnee now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Pawhuska, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Pawnee came up short against Pawhuska when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 46-42. Can Pawnee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
