Basketball Recap: Oak Glen Comes Up Short

Oak Glen suffered their biggest defeat since December 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They were beaten by the St. Marys Blue Devils 79-44. While losing is never fun, the Golden Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Blue Devils are ranked tenth).

Oak Glen's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addyson Wells, who posted seven points. What's more, Wells posted two assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Everett, who scored four points.

Addie Davis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Marys, going 8-for-13 en route to 21 points in addition to eight assists and seven rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Davis now owns an excellent 45.2% shooting accuracy. Addi Mcgrady also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Oak Glen's defeat dropped their record down to 13-8. As for St. Marys, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-4.

Oak Glen does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Marys, they will square off against Poca at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Marys is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61 points per game this season.
