Basketball Game Preview: Elkhart Elks vs. Slocum Mustangs

The Elkhart Elks will square off against the Slocum Mustangs at 9:20 a.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Elkhart took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They managed a 45-40 win over Groesbeck.

Meanwhile, Slocum took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 50-18 victory over Oakwood. That 32 point margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

Slocum is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.8 points per game. As for Elkhart, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-11.

Elkhart was taken down by Slocum 73-20 in their previous matchup back in November of 2015. Can Elkhart avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
