Football Recap: Von Steuben Gets the Win + How To Watch

The Von Steuben Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 21-18 victory over the ITW David Speer Academy Pride on Friday.

Christian Welk was the offensive standout of the contest as he threw for 159 yards and two TDs. Sanel Bekric was in the mix as well, providing Von Steuben with one touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Von Steuben's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Rogelio Dominguez, Levi Mojica, and Xavier Delgado, who each picked up one sack apiece. Von Steuben received some extra help from Bekric, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

The win got Von Steuben back to even at 1-1. As for ITW David Speer Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Von Steuben wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 6-0 victory against Hansberry on the 13th.
