Basketball Game Preview: Round Rock Dragons vs. Hutto Hippos

The Round Rock Dragons will head out on the road to take on the Hutto Hippos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Round Rock will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Round Rock is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Manor: they outscored them in every quarter. Round Rock strolled past Manor with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 58-39. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 55th, while the Mustangs are ranked 550th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Hutto hadn't done well against Round Rock Westwood recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Hutto snuck past Round Rock Westwood with a 44-38 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Hippos as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Round Rock pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Hutto, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Round Rock took their victory against Hutto when the teams last played back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 61-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Round Rock since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
