Football Recap: Rockdale County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Rockdale County lost against Newton back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Bulldogs had to suffer through a 59-3 loss at the hands of the Rams. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-3.

Deontae Burtts threw for 83 yards on ten of 16 attempts. Jaylen 'JT' Thomas was his top target, picking up 40 receiving yards. On the ground, Malachi Veasley rushed for 74 yards.

Newton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Deron Benson led the charge by throwing for 250 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Benson's passing game has become a key predictor of the Rams' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Kevin Hartsfield helped Benson out on the ground, rushing for 133 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries.

Rockdale County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Newton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Rockdale County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Newton, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 27-21 victory against South Gwinnett on the 31st.
