Baseball Recap: Riverside Comes Up Short

Riverside extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They lost 12-0 to the City Honors Centaurs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Frontiers of the 1-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2017.

As for City Honors, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 8-0. Give their pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

For City Honors' part, Carlos Perales made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave Perales a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Pavel Schneiderman, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ben Willis, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside will face off against Math Science Tech Prep at Seneca at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for City Honors, they will take on Lafayette at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
