Baseball Game Preview: Huntington Red Devils vs. Central Heights Blue Devils

Huntington hasn't had much luck against Central Heights recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Red Devils will host the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Huntington 1.5, Central Heights 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Central Heights will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Huntington extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Red Devils came out on top against Pollok Central by a score of 4-1.

Huntington's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Herrington, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Herrington has posted since back in February. Another was Isaac Sapp, who scored a run and stole a base.

Huntington hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central Heights). They put the hurt on Diboll with a sharp 20-2 win on Tuesday. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Central Heights is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Huntington, their win bumped their record up to 20-4.
