Basketball Game Preview: Irvin Rockets vs. Bowie Bears

Irvin hasn't had much luck against Bowie recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Irvin Rockets will host the Bowie Bears at 7:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Irvin came up short against Harmony Science Academy and fell 59-52. The Rockets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Bowie came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Wolves 84-25. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 823rd, while the Wolves are ranked 1714th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bowie's win came from a few key players Irvin will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Johan Camacho, who posted 33 points. His evening made it 15 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Joe Rodriguez, who earned 21 points.

Bowie is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.1 points per game. As for Irvin, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.
