Volleyball Recap: Russia Snags Ninth Win in Last 11 Games

Russia saw some tournament action on Thursday. They blew past the Calvary Christian Spartans 3-0.

Leading Russia to victory were Kourtney Phlipot and Lily Francis. Phlipot had six digs and two aces, while Francis had four digs. Those four digs gave Francis a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Russia was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive contests.

Russia has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Calvary Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-20.

Russia didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Yellow Springs on the 20th. Calvary Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
